About 2 years ago I was toying with the idea of writing a blog…
I’ve always wanted to write and I thought a weekly blog might be a way to try it out!

So I committed to write a blog post and have it up by Friday every week for a year. I knew if I didn’t make a promise to myself to stick with it I would quit the first time I stared at my computer and had no idea what to write.
Here I am on my 100th post and I’m a bit surprised to have gotten this far!
My original intention was to share about our fostering journey and I have done that. I wanted to speak about the process, the pain and heart ache and the joy while keeping in the forefront the Other Mother whose children I parent. As our short term placement turned into a long term one it seemed more relative to talk about parenting. This doesn’t feel like foster care anymore, it feels like we are a family… with a Support Worker, Case Worker, CSD worker and bio family looking over our shoulder. A strange place to be!
Thank you for reading my thoughts each week.
To celebrate my 100th post I am asking you to comment after you read! It doesn’t have to be much… maybe tell me what your favourite post was or why you keep reading each week. Or just share the post on your social media! My present to me would be to add 10 followers on my 100th post and that can only happen if you guys share, comment and like! I’m trying to decide whether to continue or to end the blog after 2 years.
I don’t know if I will continue to focus on fostering or if I will just write about raising teenagers and life in our world these days. We are finally able to take more training so I have lots of learning I could share with you in the coming weeks. But the decision has to be made whether to continue or call it done. Love to hear your feedback.

Thank you for sticking with me… whether you’ve been here since the beginning or just joined me!
In the midst of the mess (for the hundredth time!)
Marny

I’ll admit. I first started following because you are my cousin and I wanted to be supportive, and was curious as to what you would have to say. Now, I look forward to reading your post each week. With each read, no matter what your topic of the week is, or whether it pertains to fostering or not, I find that it almost always has a parallel to what’s going on in my world. It’s always thought-provoking, yet light. You tell us about the trials and hardships of fostering, and everyday things. But you also remind us that after those brief troubles are over, there is laughter, joy and silliness abundant in every day that is too often unrecognized. I’ve shed a tear and laughed out loud while reading. Always a sign of a good read!
I say, keep em coming.

Thanks so much for your blog Marny. Really have enjoyed reading it over the years even though I’ve not taken the time to leave a reply before now! My in laws are firm supporters of fostering as my youngest brother in law is one whom they fostered and then adopted. Keep it up!
